“Five Corners” Public Meeting Set for Thursday, July 23rd

League City Manager Report –“The City of League City in cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public meeting regarding the proposed roadway improvements to the intersection of FM 518, FM 270 and FM 2094, known locally as the Five Corners intersection in Galveston County. The meeting will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center located at 400 West Walker in League City. The meeting will be held in an open house format from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The purpose of the Public Meeting is to present the proposed roadway improvement project to the public and receive comments. The proposed project would construct new auxiliary turning lanes to create a four-legged intersection at the existing FM 518 and FM 2094 T-type intersection. Turning lanes from FM 270 would begin 300 feet northwest of FM 518, follow an existing local road, and then curve around the existing gas station to create a four-way intersection at the existing FM 518 and FM 2094. The new turning lanes would allow for the elimination of several high-volume turning movements at the existing intersection of FM 270 and FM 518. Approximately 1.2 acres of additional right-of-way (ROW) would be required for the proposed project and one commercial displacement is anticipated. The purpose of this project is to reduce congestion and improve traffic operations at the intersection.”

“All interested persons are invited to attend this public meeting. Written comments about this project may be submitted at the meeting. Written comments may also be submitted in person at the Houston District Office, 7600 Washington Avenue, Houston, TX  77007, or mailed to the Director of Project Development, TxDOT Houston District, P.O. Box 1386, Houston, Texas 77251-1386, or emailed to HOU-PIOWebMail@txdot.gov. Comments must be postmarked or emailed on or before August 6, 2015.”
