Iron Eagle Zip Line Opens at the Kemah Boardwalk

Get ready to soar like an eagle! For those adventurous enough, (and have no fear of heights), the Iron Eagle Zip Line, manufactured by Soaring Eagle Zipline, Inc., officially opened at the Kemah Boardwalk on September 12.

The zip line reaches a height of 10 stories; the 2-person chair-lift style seating holds riders in place with a seat belt. There is a height requirement to take the ride; you must be either taller than 42”, or 42” to 48” if accompanied by an adult. The ride is located in front of the Lighthouse Buffet and Landry’s Restaurant and extends across the Boardwalk to the top of the Boardwalk Inn. Iron Eagle riders will experience a trip of 400 feet in length traveling up to 30mph.

The Iron Eagle Zip Line is not the tallest ride at the Kemah Boardwalk; the free-fall Drop Zone ranks tallest at the complex.  The Eagle Zip Line, the 13th land-based ride located at the entertainment complex, joins: the Boardwalk Bullet, Drop Zone, Boardwalk Tower, Aviator, Ferris Wheel, Wipeout, Pharaoh’s Fury, Inverter, Balloon Wheel, Red Baron, Jungle Bounce, C.P. Huntington Train, and the Double-Decker Carousel. More information about each ride and ticket prices are posted on the Kemah Boardwalk’s website.

Soaring Eagle Zipline Inc. was formed in 2010 and is located in Logan Utah. Stan Checketts, engineer and designer, has spent many years creating rides. He is best known for his design of the world’s tallest thrill ride, the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the world’s fastest roller coaster. In 2012, Soaring Eagle Zipline installed a ride at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park at Canon City, Colorado.
