Check Out These Family Fun Activities from Morning to Evening on Saturday on January 30th

Pearland – 20^th Annual Winterfest
The City of Pearland celebrates the season during their 20^th Annual Winterfest on January 30^th, at the Pearland Rec Center and Natatorium, 4141 Bailey Road, from 10 am to 5 pm. free parking is located at Turner High School and a free shuttle will run to and from the event throughout the day. The outdoor festival features snow tubing, carnival attractions, food vendors, live entertainment, and all kinds of wintery fun.

Tickets are $10 for children age 3 through 16 and $4 for adults. Children under 2 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the Recreation Center through Jan. 29, with a $2 discount for those who bring a non-perishable food item for the Pearland Neighborhood Center. There will be NO discounts offered the day of the event. For more information, please contact Pearland’s Parks and Rec Department, 281.412-8900.

Seabrook/Kemah 17^th Annual Yachty Gras Boat Parade
America’s largest Mardi Gras Boat Parade, the Grand Night Yachty Gras Boat Parade, will be held for the 17^th year on January 30^th, at 7 pm. festively decorated boats will begin the parade at the Seabrook Yacht Club,  travel down Clear Lake to the Clear Creek Channel, and go past the Kemah Boardwalk. This year’s theme is “Excitement of the Sea”. Spectators at the boardwalk can try to catch beads and doubloons tossed by revelers from the boats.

On Sunday, January 31^st, the Parade Awards Presentation will be held at the Kemah Aquarium, at 10 am; awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & Best of Show. A “Community Krewe Award,” will be presented to the Marina that has the most registered boats in the parade. Yachty Gras is a classic Clear Lake area event that attracts tourism to the area communities and supports local charities.

54th Annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade - A Bay Area Holiday Tradition

The 54th Annual League City Christmas Boat Lane Parade, presented by the City of Kemah, will be on Saturday, December 12^th. This popular Bay Area tradition will have over 100 festively decorated power and sailboats traveling from Clear Lake to the South Shore Harbour Marina and the Nassau Bay Lagoon, all the way to Galveston Bay.

There are many places along Clear Lake to Galveston Bay where the view of this holiday parade will be splendid. Thousands of people like to watch from the Kemah Boardwalk as the boats glide through the Clear Lake Channel to the Bay. This family friendly (FREE) event will begin at 6 pm.

Start Your Summer with Music & Fireworks at The Kemah Boardwalk

The Thursday night summer concert series has begun at The Kemah Boardwalk, 215 Kipp Ave. Rock The Dock bands play at the stage located by the fountains at 7 pm – 10:30 pm. Bring your lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the tunes played by popular local groups from the Texas Coast. The concert series continues through August 27^th. For information about who will be playing at Rock The Dock, visit the Boardwalk’s website, or call 281.535-8100. There is no charge to enjoy the music.

Friday Night Fireworks at The Kemah Boardwalk simply means “Enjoy some sparkle over Galveston Bay”. You don’t have to wait for the 4^th of July to see fireworks. Every Friday evening during the months of June and July, a fireworks show will begin at 9:30 pm. No charge to bring your family to enjoy the “sparkle”.

Celebrate (Galveston) Bay Day on May 23rd at the Kemah Boardwalk

Kemah ~Bay Day is a “one day” (free) event presented by the Galveston Bay Foundation and community partners. This family fun event will be held on Saturday, May 23 from 11am to 4 pm. The main theme of this celebration is: “everything Galveston Bay”; learning more about the largest bay in Texas and one of the most productive estuaries in the country.

Kemah Boardwalk will have interactive science and marine exhibits, bay-themed arts & crafts, live-animal demonstrations, and much more. Musical ‘edu-taining’ performances will be presented by the group Vocal Trash. You will also have the opportunity to come aboard the BaySmart Express from the Sea Scout Base Galveston, where you can learn about the exciting marine voyages made by the 110-foot floating educational vessel.

The Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization established in 1987 under the laws of the State of Texas. The Foundation’s strength is that it involves a true cross-section of Bay interests to address issues and concerns related to Galveston Bay. The mission of the Foundation is to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural resources of the Galveston Bay estuarine system and its tributaries for present users and for posterity. Its programs in advocacy, conservation, education, and research strive to ensure that Galveston Bay remains a beautiful and productive place for generations to come.

Kemah Boardwalk, League City, and Friendswood Hold Memorial Day Events

Kemah Boardwalk ~ The Kemah Boardwalk will be offering special activities during the Memorial Day Weekend, May 22 through May 25. Kemah Boardwalk is located along Galveston Bay, 215 Kipp Ave, in Kemah. Check the Kemah Boardwalk Facebook Page for more updates.

League City ~ The City of League City and the local American Legion Post #544 will join together on Monday, May 25^th, at the Fairview Cemetery, located at 901 North Kansas, to honor service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The ceremony will begin at 10 am.

Friendswood – The City of Friendswood will observe Memorial Day with a ceremony on Monday, May 25^th, at the Veteran’s Memorial, which is adjacent to the Friendswood City Hall (910 South Friendswood Drive). The event will begin at 10 am.

Triathletes Compete in Kemah, April 11th - 12th

The 6^th annual Kemah Triathlon Festival will take place on Saturday-Sunday, April 11 & 12. The Youth Triathlon will be held on Saturday; the Sprint and Olympic races will be on Sunday. The full schedule of events can be found on the event’s website.

The swim, bike, and run adult course routes can be found on the event’s website. Residents need to be aware of closures on Hwy 146 and Kipp Avenue in the Kemah/Kemah Boardwalk area during Sunday’s competition. The Youth Course route is also posted on the website.

Multiple Bay Area Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremonies

PEARLAND: City Tree Lighting, entertainment, Santa; Friday, December 5; 7pm to 10pm.

LEAGUE CITY: Library Holiday Open House, Santa, Tree Lighting; Thursday, December 4; 5pm to approx. 7:30pm

SEABROOK: Christmas Tree Lighting, Santa; Thursday, December 4, 7pm to 9pm.

Festivities will take place on the grounds of Seabrook City Hall, 1700 First Street; music will fill the air when the City of Seabrook’s Holiday Tree lights are turned on. Join us for hot chocolate, holiday cheer, cookies, and a special appearance from Santa Claus.

KEMAH: Christmas Tree Lighting, Santa; Friday, December 5, 6pm to 8pm.

The City of Kemah holds their Christmas Tree Lighting at 604 Bradford, Kemah. Santa will arrive to talk with children, holiday food provided, and real reindeer will be special guests!

Bay Area Heart Walk – Saturday, November 1st

The Bay Area Heart Walk, a non-competitive 5K Walk, will be held on Saturday, November 1, at 7:30 am. Walkers will begin at the Kemah Boardwalk, 215 Kipp Ave., and follow the route as shown in the diagram below. This event, along with fun activities, helps to promote walking as a part of a healthy lifestyle and to raise funds to support the American Heart Association.

To participate in the annual event, walkers can register online by visiting the event’s website www.bayareaheartwalk.org or by calling 713-610-5072. There is no registration fee, but donations are appreciated.
