Road Projects Update from League City’s City Manager

Mark Rohr, City Manager for the City of League City, recently reported on current and upcoming road projects.

FM 2094 Paving Repair Project: Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) began work on the FM 2094 (Marina Bay Drive) Paving Repair Project on June 9, 2014. Work is estimated to last 45 days. The contractor is proposing to modify the construction traffic control plan by detouring all of the eastbound traffic to the northern side of the divided roadway and making the westbound lanes two-way traffic, within the limits of the repairs. TxDOT has requested that a representative from League City be present during the exploratory excavation of the roadway subsurface to evaluate if any of the subsurface problems involve City facilities.

Update on the Calder Road Waterline Construction: Crews are continuing to work on Calder Road waterline construction and the Gulf Coast Water Authority’s contractor expects to have the road open to the public again by the end of June, weather permitting. Phase 1 of the project extends from IH-45 to the Calder Road Water Plant. The second phase of lining is currently in progress and will extend from the water plant to Ervin Street. This phase began Wednesday, April 30 and required Calder Road to be converted to one-way, northbound only, from Ervin St. to League City Pkwy.  The City has made a concerted effort to communicate with the contractor and reduce delays to the motorists and to keep the construction site clean and move barricades when possible. The street department is working to address a number of potholes on this roadway section.
