The Bay Area Celebrates Mardi Gras

Celebrating Mardi Gras has become a tradition in the Bay Area; each city or Krewe has their own unique event which usually takes place before the major events in Galveston.

January 31, Texas City, The Inaugural Mainland Mardi Gras Parade will start at 2 pm, on 33rd Street at the Carlos Garza Sports Complex. The parade route will end at the Showboat Theater. (Free entry) More information can be found at mailandmardigras.com or by calling 409.457-8080.

January 31, Texas City Rotary Club 5th Annual Mardi Gras Mainland Gala, begins 7 pm at the Doyle Convention Center, 2010 5th Ave. N.,Texas City. More information can be found at their website.

January 31, Kemah, Krewe Du Lac Royal Mardi Gras Ball will be held from 7pm to 11pm, at Landry’s on the Kemah Boardwalk. Kelly McGuire will provide musical entertainment for the evening.

February 6, Kemah, Kick Off Party,Bakkhus Taverna605 6th Street, in Kemah at 6 pm.

February 7, Kemah, Galloway Gallop, The run begins at 8 am with 5K and 10k races followed by a Kids K dash at 9 am. This is the thirteenth year for the popular fun run, which benefits The Galloway School, an accredited, non-denominational, non-profit private school for grades PK-3 through 8th located in Friendswood, TX.

February 7, Kemah Mardi Gras Parade, Krewe du Lac parade lines up at 10am behind T-Bone Tom's Restaurant and rolls @ 11am from the corner of 7th and Bradford. Free to enter a golf cart, car, pick up, flatbed, walking club...well, you get it. Best spots to view the parade are on Bradford between 7th & 5th or on Kipp between 5th and 9th.
