When the month of October comes around, longtime residents know the skies in the area will be busy with air traffic, and different sounds will fill the air for one weekend. The 31
st Annual Commemorative Air Force (CAF)
Wings over Houston Airshow will be held at
Ellington Airport on Saturday, October 17, through Sunday, October 18.
The
U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the
Breitling Jet Team will headline this year’s military demonstrations. The Thunderbirds, a team of six (6) F-16 Falcon jets have not participated at Wings Over Houston since 2010. The Breitling Air Team, the largest professional civilian team from Europe performing in seven (7) L-39C Albatross jet aircraft, will be ending their first United States tour with their first appearance at this event.
Other highlights during the weekend will be static displays of military aircraft and vehicles, Legends & Heroes Tent, Kids Carnival Zone, NASA Driver to Explore exhibit, featuring distinguished veterans signing autographs and memorabilia; civilian demonstrations will be performed by the RE/Max Skydive Team, Radio-Controlled Aircraft Demos, and more. The crowd favorite “Tora! Tora! Tora!”, a World War II re-enactment will again be wowing the crowd.
