In the August 3
rd (2015) issue of
The Galveston County Daily News, a request for bids was postedfor
Adventure Pointe Entertainment Center-Public Infrastructure. I have been looking for updates since the announcement about 35 acre theme park, located south of
Tanger Outlet in
Texas City, was made around October 2013.
In February 2014, plans for Adventure Pointe were announced to the public. The 35 acre site will host a thrilling and innovative theme park, a hospitality center with amazing restaurants, retail and hotel accommodations, and an entertainment section complete with a state of the art concert venue. According to their
Facebook page, Adventure Pointe will be broken into four different areas - all paying homage to the original
Playland Park and the Gulf Coast Region and its history. The trademark application for Adventure Pointe has been submitted, and the rides have been finalized.
Talks have been ongoing by the Adventure Pointe team about our partnership with Texas City and the MUD, (Municipal Utility District), in officially launching our public bid for the infrastructure of Adventure Pointe (update posted on May 2015). Hopefully, updates will be posted soon on either Facebook or their website. A sign placed on the land has stood alone for many to see while driving south on I-45, the Gulf Freeway. The Gulf Coast community is anxiously waiting as this exciting venture is slowly pieced together; I plan to keep our readers updated.
