Spotlight on Whispering Lakes Ranch in League City, Texas

Whispering Lakes Ranch
Welcome to Whispering Lakes Ranch
Thirty three miles south of downtown Houston, midway to the sunny beaches of Galveston, sits the gated community of Whispering Lakes Ranch in League City, Texas. When you pull into the gates on Whispering Lakes Ranch Drive, you cross over to the serenity of winding roads escorting you among the manmade lakes with fountains spraying. Imagine a place where every home sits on a minimum of one acre, where children are free to ride their bikes around acres of lakes on sidewalk trails, where neighbors visit each other by traveling on golf carts and where automobile traffic is limited. Indeed, once your neighbors are done with their work week, it is common for them to travel by foot or golf cart for most of the rest of the weekend, walking the lakes, feeding the ducks or visiting neighbors. Cookouts are the norm and get-togethers abound, as residents have plenty of outdoor space to entertain.

The homes of Whispering Lakes Ranch are equally spectacular, as the three original builders- Trendmaker, Perry Homes and David Powers shared their individual flair in developing home styles that vary from one another, creating a neighborhood of unique diversity. Although the smallest homes are around 3,000 square feet, the average home in Whispering Lakes is 4,700 square feet and the largest around 8,000 square feet. Many sizes are available, but in general when construction took place, most residents wanted to make use of their expansive lots by building the home of their dreams according their unlimited size desires. With new construction coming to an end recently and with the desirability of the neighborhood, you won’t find many homes for sale. Indeed, of the 310 homes in the neighborhood, it is common for only 5-10 homes to be for sale at any point in time. When listings do come up, prices can range from the $400s to the $800s.

Children of Whispering Lakes Ranch are fortunate to be schooled at the award-winning Education Village, a much sought after complex that brings together Mossman Elementary, Bayside Intermediate and Clear Falls High School all situated on one beautifully designed campus. Residents can golf at one of the many public or private golf courses or if boating is your passion, there are numerous marinas in the area. Whatever it is that suits your lifestyle, Whispering Lakes Ranch is in the middle of it all and provides you with luxury living away from the big city chaos!

League City Launches New and Improved Tourism Website

City of League City Logo
League City has released its new Visit League City Website with this official announcement:

January 6, 2014 - “League City residents already know the hot spots and cool spaces to shop, eat, and play, but now the entire world will have access to a glimpse at League City’s recreational lifestyle. The City’s tourism website, www.visitleaguecity.com, has launched after a yearlong redesign. City Council approved funds to revamp the City’s websites in the FY12 budget. The City launched leaguecity.com and leaguecityedc.com in fall 2013.

The economic development and communication offices then put their efforts into creating a website that gives visitors everything they need to plan vacations, events or conferences in League City. "League City’s close proximity to the Gulf Coast and to Houston coupled with our great Historic District and museums like the Butler Longhorn Museum and the West Bay Common School Museum make it a great destination for vacations and conventions,” said Economic Development Manager Owen Rock. “The new website is a showcase for all of these great amenities and the City’s recreational lifestyle brand,” said Rock.

The new site features a list of local restaurants, sports venues and even a section for planning a destination wedding in League City. Visitors and residents will benefit from the calendar and announcements of upcoming events like the Southwest International Boat Show and the Texas Music Festival, under the 'Stay Informed' Tab on the homepage. Visitors are also able to book a hotel room from a link right on the home page.”

League City Welcomes Quaker Steak & Lube Restaurant

Quaker Steak & Lube has applied for a permit to construct its 7,800 sq. ft. restaurant, which will be located in the Victory Lakes Entertainment District, League City. Restaurants can be found in 19 States and one location in Toronto, Ontario. There are three locations currently open in Texas: Waco, Carrollton, and Plano (which opened in January 2013). Construction will be evident to those travelling along I-45 South; the building will be close to the Jimmy Changas Restaurant which opened its doors in November 2012.

The history of Quaker Steak & Lube states the following on the company's website: "It was 1974 when our country had its first gas crisis. The price of gasoline was skyrocketing, gas stations were closing nationwide, and carmakers began exploring how to develop cars that got better mileage. But for George “Jig” Warren III and Gary “Moe” Meszaros, it wasn’t about better mileage or for that matter even obeying the new 55 M.P.H speed limit. It was about finding a home to preserve the culture of those old gas stations and high-powered muscle cars. So was born Quaker Steak & Lube®, a “Cook Your Own Steak” restaurant that gave old muscle cars a permanent home, which included a 1936 Chevrolet, frozen in time on the original hydraulic grease rack. It is from these beginnings that the Quaker Steak & Lube® family of restaurants began. Today, “The Lube®” serves over 80 million wings annually, has bottled sauces for retail sale, has won the title of “Best Wings USA,” and has hundreds of local, national, and international awards for their sauce recipes. Over 45 locations in multiple states across the US, “The Lube®” is still rescuing muscle cars, vintage cars, trucks and a vast selection of custom and antique motorcycles, giving them good homes hanging from the walls and ceilings in each restaurant."
